Ideas about how to use chatting in my classes
There are more than 50 students in my class. Currently it is impossible to equip the classrooms with the corresponding number of computers. Therefore, chatting is feasible outside the class not inside.
Reactions to chatting
We know some language teachers are not in favor of technologies in their classes, suspecting the effect of implementing them in terms of facilitating students’ language learning. But I do agree with Nikki’s idea that teachers who use technologies will surpass those who do not.
Chatting is an ideal way for students with diverse background to communicate. By talking online students can realize the value of learning the target language and get strong motivation as well as confidence from problem solving.

Goals for this class
Language learning should be the activities both inside and outside the classrooms and teachers are not the only sources for students to acquire English. Network is an ideal way to facilitate student-center learning in class, and compensate the time-limited class learning, helping them find their learning style, rhythm and interest, and develop their autonomous leaning.
With the help of computer-based technology, interactive and collaborative activities can be organized effectively. By sharing authentic information, students experience the target language and feel the value of learning, which lead them to acquire strong motivation to enhance their language competence and broaden their mind.
Goals for this class are to acquaint educators with practicing technological tools and help teachers to form democratic interaction with students and among students themselves.

I am in favor of using computer-based technologies in class which can make the language classrooms both dynamic and efficient.
I still remember my first-year education experience in 2004 when we had no computers in class. Blackboards, chopsticks, tapes and books were the only tools for me to teach English. Each time I took a recorder to the classroom and my students could only “feel” English from their headphones. Then since 2008, we could have language classes in multi-media classrooms where audio and video materials could be employed to enhance language teaching and leaning.
Language is alive and students should learn live English. Technology in class enable students to access the current and authentic language in an efficient way. Teachers are neither the mere sources nor the authority. They are supposed to be a guide and a helper accompanying students to discover what they need and like by building interaction with students.
